Open Access Policy Statement

This is an open access journal which means that all content is freely available without charge to the user or his/her institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author. This is in accordance with the BOAI definition of open access.

Submission and publication are completely free for all authors. University College Fairview does not charge submission fees, Article Processing Charges (APCs), page charges, or any other publication-related fees. Our commitment to open access is funded institutionally, ensuring that financial barriers never prevent authors from publishing or readers from accessing research.

Articles are published with zero embargo period—immediate open access upon publication. There is no waiting period before content becomes freely available.

University College Fairview is committed to advancing knowledge through open scholarship. We believe that research should be freely accessible to all—researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and the public—to maximize its impact and contribution to society.

 

Definition of Open Access

In accordance with the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), we define Open Access as follows:

Open Access is the condition where the copyright holder of a scholarly work grants usage rights to others using an open license (Creative Commons or equivalent), allowing for:

• Immediate, free access to the work

• Any user to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of articles

• Crawling for indexing purposes

• Passing data to software for analysis

• Any other lawful purpose

 

Our Open Access Policy

1. All Content Is Freely Available

All articles published in University College Fairview journals are immediately and permanently available online, free of charge and without registration barriers to all readers worldwide.

2. No Article Processing Charges (APCs)

Submission and publication are completely free for all authors. University College Fairview does not charge:

• Submission fees

• Article Processing Charges (APCs)

• Page charges

• Color figure charges

• Any other publication-related fees

Our commitment to open access is funded institutionally, ensuring that financial barriers never prevent authors from publishing or readers from accessing research.

3. Open Licensing (Creative Commons)

All articles are published under a Creative Commons license. We offer the following options:

Recommendation: We encourage authors to choose the CC BY license to maximize the reach and impact of their work, in line with the principles of open access.

4. Author Retains Copyright

Authors retain copyright to their work and grant the journal the right of first publication. This means:

• Authors maintain ownership of their intellectual property

• Authors can share, reuse, and repurpose their work

• Authors can archive their work in institutional repositories

5. No Embargo Period

Articles are published with zero embargo period—immediate open access upon publication. There is no waiting period before content becomes freely available.

6. Rights Granted to Users

Under our open access policy, all users are granted the following rights:

• Read the full text of any article

• Download and save articles for personal use

• Copy and distribute articles for educational or research purposes

• Print articles for offline reading

• Search and link to full texts

• Crawl articles for indexing by search engines and discovery services

• Pass data to software for text and data mining

• Use the content for any other lawful purpose, provided the original work is properly attributed

Author Responsibilities

When publishing with us, authors agree to:

1. Grant the journal the right of first publication

2. License their work under a Creative Commons license

3. Ensure that any third-party materials used in their work are properly cleared and cited

4. Acknowledge funders as required by their funding agreements

5. Deposit a copy of their published work in their institutional repository (where required)

Repository Archiving

We support authors in depositing their work in institutional and subject repositories. Authors may:

• Deposit the published version (Version of Record) in their institution's repository

• Deposit the accepted manuscript in any repository

• Share their work on academic social networks (e.g., ResearchGate, Academia.edu)
