Author Guidelines

ORCID iD

We strongly encourage all authors to register for an ORCID iD (Open Researcher and Contributor ID). An ORCID iD is a free, unique, and persistent digital identifier that distinguishes you from every other researcher. It is a 16-digit code (e.g., 0000-0001-2345-6789) that remains with you throughout your academic career. Registration is quick and free at https://orcid.org/register.

Submission Process

To submit a manuscript to JELI, authors must first login or register on our journal website. All submissions must be made through our online submission system or email to editor.jeli@fairview.edu.my

Manuscript Formatting Requirements

Please ensure your manuscript adheres to the following formatting guidelines:

Figures and Tables

• Figures: Insert figures in JPEG format or as Print Screen images. Ensure each figure has a caption beneath it (e.g., Figure 1: Conceptual framework of the study).

• Tables: Place each table on a single page only. Number tables consecutively (Table 1, Table 2, etc.) with brief descriptive titles above the left corner of the table in italic font.

Manuscript Structure

All submissions must include the following sections in order:

1. Title

Provide a concise and informative title of less than 15 words. Avoid abbreviations and formulae.

2. Author(s)

Provide full names and affiliations of all authors. Designate one corresponding author with:

• E-mail address

• Full postal address

3. Abstract

All manuscripts must include an abstract that summarizes the study's purpose, methods, key findings, and significance.

4. Keywords

Immediately after the abstract, provide 3-5 keywords that accurately represent the content of your manuscript.

5. Introduction

• Introduce the aims of the study

• Provide background and context for your work

• Include a literature review with explicit local and international connections

• Explain the theoretical underpinnings and key concepts

• Outline the objectives, research questions, or hypotheses

6. Methodology

Provide sufficient detail on how you conducted your inquiry, including:

• Clear descriptions of participants

• Research instruments with a pilot study for validity and reliability

• Data collection procedures

• Data analysis techniques

7. Results

Present your findings clearly and concisely. Results should be consistent with the research aims.

8. Discussion

• Present the significance of your findings (do not simply repeat results)

• Explain how your work connects with or challenges existing literature

• Interpret the meaning and implications of your findings

9. Conclusions, Implications, and Suggestions

• Summarize the main conclusions of the study

• Discuss the implications of your findings

• Provide suggestions for future research

10. References

• Ensure all references in the reference list are cited in the text, and vice versa

• Follow APA 6th Edition format

Language Requirements

Please write your text in good English or Malay. Manuscripts must be thoroughly spell-checked and grammar-checked before submission.

Copyright and Permissions

Authors are responsible for obtaining permission for the use of copyrighted material from other sources (including the Internet). This includes figures, tables, and any other third-party content.

The names and email addresses entered in this journal site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party.

 

Archiving and Plagiarism Policy

Archiving Policy
JELI is committed to ensuring the long-term preservation and accessibility of its published content. To guarantee that scholarly work remains available to the academic community and the public in perpetuity, the journal deposits all published articles with the National Library of Malaysia for long-term preservation and archival storage.

Plagiarism Policy
JELI is committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity and research ethics. All submitted manuscripts are routinely screened for plagiarism prior to peer review and publication.

Plagiarism Screening
All article submissions are checked using plagiarism detection software to identify potential instances of text overlap, duplicate publication, or improper attribution. Manuscripts that show significant text similarity or unoriginal content will be returned to the author for revision or rejected outright.

Definitions of Plagiarism
Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:

Verbatim copying of text without proper quotation marks and citation

Reuse of substantial portions of one's own previously published work without appropriate acknowledgment (self-plagiarism)

Interweaving phrases and ideas from multiple sources without proper citation

Rewording content too closely to the original source without proper attribution

Presenting the ideas, theories, or data of others as one's own without citation

Author Responsibilities
Authors are responsible for ensuring that:

All sources are properly cited and acknowledged

Direct quotations are clearly indicated with quotation marks and appropriate citations

Permission has been obtained for any third-party material used

The manuscript has not been submitted to or published in any other journal

Consequences of Plagiarism
If plagiarism is detected at any stage:

Before publication: The manuscript will be rejected or returned for revision

After publication: The article may be retracted, and the author's institution may be notified

Repeated offenses: The author may be barred from submitting to JELI in the future
